In this policy, the words ‘we’, ‘us’ or ‘our’ refer to AJ Dunlop Car Servicing, a single site local garage established for over 20 years.

-visit us in person, through our CCTV footage;

-voluntarily provide us with your personal data whilst completing surveys, participate in competitions, signing up for events or providing feedback;

-use our website. We collect information, where available, including your device’s ID, IP address, operating system and browser type. This information helps us produce anonymised data about our users’ browser behaviours;

-interact with us on our social media pages. This may include your name and any direct or private messages sent to Us;

-sign up for our newsletter. We may also see statistics such as your “click throughs” on the newsletter emails that we send to you;

-phone us, we may occasionally record calls;

Who do we share your personal data with?

We do not sell or rent your personal data to anyone.  You are sharing information with us alone, unless we specifically state otherwise below:

-any statutory, governmental or regulatory body that requests the personal data and that we are obliged (by law or by regulation) to provide;

-our analytics and search engine providers that assist us in the improvement and optimisation of our website. We currently use Google Analytics and their privacy policy is available online;

-third party suppliers who enable us to carry out our services to you.  Personal data is only provided when necessary, for example a recovery company collecting a vehicle from your home address;

-third party secure servers who may store your data as part of the services they carry out on our behalf;

-you give us explicit consent to share your personal data with another company or body.

As our requirements change, we may need to change the third parties that process your personal data to meet those requirements.

How do we protect your personal data?

Your data will be held on secure servers within the European Economic Area (“EEA”) with all reasonable technological and operation measures put in place to safeguard it from unauthorised access.  Where possible any identifiable information will be encrypted or minimised.

Where we use external parties to process your personal data, we put contracts in place to make sure that they treat it as carefully as we would and use it only in accordance with the instructions that we give to them.

How we use your information

We will use your private information to provide you with the services that you have requested from us. In addition we will process the personal data that you provide to us in the following ways based on our legitimate interests as a business:

-To ably complete the services that you have requested of us;

-To ensure that our premises are kept secure and to prevent crime;

-Send you details of important changes to our services or policies;

-To protect the interests of either you, us or, more commonly, both parties;

-To send timely reminders of key dates for your vehicle, such as the MOT expiry or maintenance due;

-To occasionally inform you of relevant information to motorists such as news, developments or changing laws.  If you do not wish to receive these updates please use the unsubscribe/opt out link included in the message;

-To manage a sweepstake or competition you have entered;

-We may aggregate non-personal information such a referrer URL and activities on our website to understand how users engage with our products;

-To comply with our legal obligations.

Changes

From time to time we may update this policy. When any changes are made the policy will be updated on our website.

Retention of your personal data

We will only retain your personal data for as long as is reasonably necessary or required to meet legal or regulatory requirements, resolve disputes or enforce our terms and conditions.  Therefore we may also keep hold of some of your information even after you have closed your account or it is no longer needed to provide services to you.

Your Rights

You may instruct us to provide you with any personal information we hold about you. Provision of such information may be subject to the payment of a fee (currently fixed at £10.00).

You may instruct us not to process your personal data for marketing purposes at any time.
